DEFINITIONS OF CO, .N TERMS <br />Balanced pH - pH reading of 7. <br />Caustic - A chemical that has a pH reading which is greater than <br />12. Capable of burning, corroding, dissolving or otherwise <br />eating away by chemical action. <br />CAS Number - Chemical Abstracts Number. The number which is specifically <br />assigned to a certain chemical ingredient. (As shown <br />on MSDS). <br />Combustible - Flashpoint of 100° F up to 200° F. <br />Corrosive - High acidity level. <br />Flammable - Flashpoint of 100° F or less. <br />Oxidize - Combine with oxygen <br />Oxidizer - A substance that oxidizes or induces another substance <br />to oxidize. <br />pH - A measure of acidity or alkalinity of a solution. The pH <br />increases with acidity. <br />Reactor - Any material that reacts with water. <br />R.Q. - Reportable Quantity when pertaining to a spill. <br />Sludge - A slushy matter of residual left from a chemical. <br />
