No external communication or alarm system is provided at the Hazardous <br />Waste Storage Bldg. <br />The Environmental Monitors who normally handle hazardous wastes at <br />the McDonald Island Storage Facility generally carry a cellular telephone <br />while performing actual waste management activities. However, PG&E <br />will install a hard -wired telephone on the exterior of the hazardous waste <br />storage area to ensure that adequate emergency communications <br />equipment is always available. <br />2. No immediate access to emergency communication at Hazardous Storage <br />Facility. <br />nMTF- =-- <br />As previously stated, spent dry cell batteries are no longer regulated <br />hazardous or universal battery wastes. The spent battery containers a <br />properly labeled with the contents, date and generator information <br />required under H&SC 25216.3. 1 <br />4. No Certificate of Return to Compliance was submitted for the 11/14/97 <br />inspection. <br />The Certificate of Return to Compliance was not submitted for the <br />11/14/97 inspection findings since the material items identified were either <br />corrected at the time of inspection or subsequently determined to be in <br />compliance with then current environmental regulations. Please refer to <br />the PG&E's response letter dated 12/29/97 provided in Attachment A. <br />
