Any person who generates a waste shall determine if the waste is a hazardous waste. The facility <br /> has the following old containers on site. The owner stated these chemicals are not being used: <br /> a. 330 gallon tote labeled LM 420 'A' with dark residue in the bottom. <br /> b. 1 gallon full container labeled Superox 46-736, organic peroxide. <br /> c. 5 gallon full container labeled Styrene 50 ppm inhibitor. <br /> d. 5 gallon full container labeled Glycol Ether PM. <br /> e. 5 gallon full container labeled Surfynol 61 surfactant flammable liquid. <br /> f. 5 gallon full container labeled Emulsifier Four. <br /> g. 5 gallon container labeled black silicon carbide. <br /> h. 5 gallon full container labeled Resin Solution, flammable. <br /> i. 5 gallon full rusty container, unlabeled. <br /> j. approximately nine 330 gallon totes which contained liquid, some labeled pale oil or white oil. <br /> Immediately make a hazardous waste determination for the above wastes, and manage it according to <br /> the Title 22 hazardous waste regulations. Hazardous wastes are toxic, reactive, ignitable or corrosive as <br /> defined in Title 22. Submit a hazardous waste determination statement and supporting documentation <br /> to the Environmental Health Department (EHD) explaining how these wastes will be managed by August <br /> 13, 2012. <br /> 301. A 330 gallon tote, unlabeled, was leaking an oily substance onto the driveway from a nail puncture <br /> in the side. A mostly empty, inverted white oil 380 drum was leaking oil onto the driveway. Facilities <br /> shall be maintained and operated to minimize the possibility of a fire, explosion, or release of hazardous <br /> waste to air, soil, or surface water which could threaten human health or the environment. Immediately <br /> fix the leaks and cleanup the spilled substances, and manage according to Title 22 hazardous waste <br /> regulations.
