f <br />4 <br />PRECAUTIONARY STATEMENTS <br />HAZARDS TO HUMANS AND DOMESTIC ANIMALS <br />DANGERI <br />Fatal if swallowed, inhaled, or absorbed through the skin. Do not <br />breathe dust. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. <br />Wear freshly laundered, long-sleeved work clothing daily. While trans- <br />ferring from package to equipment, wear a clean cap, gloves (rubber or <br />cotton) and goggles. If cotton gloves are used, they must be laundered <br />or discarded after each day's use. Rubber gloves should be washed <br />with soap and water atter each use. Do not wear the same gloves for <br />other work. Destroy and replace gloves frequently. <br />In case of contact, immediately remove contaminated clothing and <br />wash skin thoroughly with soap and water. Launder clothing and de- <br />contaminate shoes before reuse. Wash thoroughly with soap and wa- <br />ter before eating or smoking. Bathe at the end of the work day and <br />change clothing. <br />Do Not Breathe Dust <br />Wear a face mask or other respiratory equipment while emptying bags <br />of product into a hopper. While emptying bags into equipment, pour <br />downwind and allow as little free tall as possible. Do not pour at face <br />level and do not allow dust to reach the breathing zone. <br />Do Not Contaminate Food or Feed Products <br />Once a bag has been opened, use it completely. Make sure the hop- <br />pers are emptied while still in the field. Refer to STORAGE AND DIS- <br />POSAL statement for further instructions. <br />Keep All Unprotected Persons Out c.f Operating Areas. <br />Do not apply this product in such a manner as to directly or through drift <br />expose workers or other persons. <br />Keep Out of Reach of Domestic Animals <br />Not For Use or Storage In or Around the Home <br />RE-ENTRY STATEMENT <br />Do not enter treated areas wWhout protective clothing until treatments <br />have been completed. <br />Because certain states may require more restrictive re-entry intervals <br />for various crops treated with this product, consult your State Depart- <br />ment of Agriculture for further information. <br />Written or oral warnings must be given to workers who are expected to <br />be in a treated area or in an area about to be treated with this product. <br />When oral warnings are given, warnings shall be given in a language <br />customarily understood by workers. Oral warnings must be given if <br />there is reason to believe that written warnings cannot be understood <br />by workers. Written warnings must include the following information: <br />DANGER. Area treated with THIMET on (date of application). Do not <br />enter without protective clothing. <br />Fields may be re-entered on day of treatment with sod applications of <br />THIMET 20-G. Do not enter corn fields within 7 days after plants have <br />been treated with foliar applications. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS <br />Product is toxic to fish, shrimp, crab, birds and other wildlife. Birds <br />and other wildlife in treated areas may be killed. Keep out of lakes, <br />streams, ponds, tidal marshes and estuaries. Do not apply where <br />runoff is likely to occur. Do not apply when weather conditions favor <br />drift from areas treated. Do not contaminate water by cleaning of <br />equipment or disposal of wastes. Shrimp and crab may be killed at <br />application rate recommended on this label. Do not apply where <br />these are important resources. Apply this product only as specified <br />on this label. <br />This pesticide is toxic to bees exposed to direct application. Appli- <br />cations should be timed to coincide with periods of minimum bee <br />activity, usually between late evening and early morning. <br />STORAGE AND DISPOSAL <br />Storage <br />Store pesticide products in a secure locked area where children, <br />unauthorized persons and animals cannot enter. Do not store in the <br />same area with food or feed. Do not store opened bags. <br />Prohibitions <br />Do not contaminate water, food or feed by storage or disposal. <br />Open dumpings prohibited. Cover or incorporate spills. <br />Pesticide Disposal <br />Pesticide wastes are acutely hazardous. Improper di:,posal of ex- <br />cess pesticide, spray mixture, or rinsate is a violation of Federal <br />Law. If these wastes cannot be disposed of by use ac(zrding to <br />label instructions, contact your state pesticide or Environmental <br />Control Agency, or the hazardous waste representative a, the near- <br />est EPA Regional Office for guidance. <br />Container Disposal <br />Completely empty bag into application equipment. Then dispose of <br />empty bag in a sanitary landfill or by incineration, or, if allowed by <br />state and local authorities, by burning. If burned, stay out of smoke. <br />General <br />Consult federal, state or local disposal authorities for approved <br />alternative procedures such as limited open burning. <br />CALL A PHYSICIAN AT ONCE <br />IN ALL CASES OF SUSPECTED POISONIVC. <br />DIRECTIONS FOR USE <br />4 <br />It is a violation of Federal Law to use this product in a manner <br />inconsistent with its labeling. <br />This label must be in the possession of the user at the time of <br />pesticide application. <br />BEFORE USING, READ PRECAUTIONARY STATEMENTS. <br />THIMET should be applied with a granular pesticide applicator prop- <br />erty calibrated to assure accurate placement and proper dosage. <br />Cover granules that may be exposed on the ends of the treated rows <br />and turns and loading areas by deep d sang immediately atter treating <br />fields. After applying THIMET, do not rotate the treated geld to food or <br />feed crops that are not on the THIMET labe'. <br />103 <br />
