' Corrective Action Plan Page 15
Af3er completion, the locations of the wells will be surveyed and the elevations of the top-
of-casing
op-
ofcasing and the cover frame of the well-head box of each well will be determined relative
to the temporary datum that has been established at existing well ULT 7
The well logs, which will include details of the well construction, will be filed with the
California Department of Water Resources (DWR)
Treatment and J)isposal of Dnll cuttings and Development Water
Drill cuttings and development water generated during installation of the groundwater
recovery wells will be retained on site in closed-top, 50 gallon, steel drums When full, the
drums will be closed and placed in secure storage on the 152 East 11th property It is
estimated that the total volume of drill cuttings will amount to less than 3 cubic yards, and
the total volume of development water will be less than 2,000 gallons
When the groundwater treatment system has been constructed and authorization to
operate it under NPDES Permit No CA0082929 has been obtained from the CRWQCB,
the retained development water will be decanted from the storage drums, filtered and
passed through the groundwater treatment system and discharged as clean water to the
storm sewer
To check for components of gasoline in the drill cuttings, an approximate 0 1 cubic foot
volume of cuttings will be taken from each drum containing that material and these
samples will be mixed together to form a composite A standard brass sampling tube will
be driven into the composite and a sample recovered The sample tube will then be cleaned
externally, its ends covered with aluminum foil and closed with tightly fitting plastic caps
The caps will be secured with adhesiveless tape The sample tube will be labeled for
identification, entered into chain-of-custody control and packed on chemical ice for
transport, within 24 hours, to a laboratory licensed by the California Environmental
Protection Agency (Department of Health Services)
The laboratory will analyze the sample for the following suite of analytes
Analyte Method of Analysis
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons EPA Method 5030/8015
(as Gasoline)
Benzene EPA Method 8020
Toluene EPA Method 8020
Ethyl Benzene EPA Method 8020
