FIRE PREVENTION PLAN <br /> OBJECTIVES <br /> • Maintain fire extinguishers <br /> • Control accumulation of combustible materials <br /> • Notify appropriate personnel and services in case of emergency <br /> • Assess the fire and extinguish the fire if appropriate <br /> • Determine the need to evacuate the facility <br /> PREVENTION RESPONSIBILITIES <br /> 1. Each facility will have a map detailing the location of each fire extinguisher. <br /> z. All employees will control accumulation of combustible materials, however, department <br /> management is to ensure this happens. <br /> 3. Fire extinguishers are maintained and inspected monthly by Government Buildings and <br /> Facilities Management. <br /> • <br /> FACILITY THREAT COORDINATOR <br /> 1. Direct Area Wardens to assess fire and report conditions. <br /> i. Ensure Fire Department has been called using 9-9-1-1. <br /> 3. Instruct alerting aides to notify Area Wardens by radio or telephone. <br /> 4. Direct guard to prevent entry into the building. <br /> 5. Upon evacuation, direct the Area Wardens to station themselves at the facility entrances and <br /> prevent entry by unauthorized persons. <br /> 6. From the External Command Post, coordinate activities with Fire Department and the CAO's <br /> office. <br /> LAB MANAGEMENT <br /> 1. Immediately notify first responders/Facility Threat Coordinator of the locations of <br /> hazardous materials: carbon dioxide canisters in the Hazelton Lab, carbon dioxide canisters <br /> and propylene glycol steel drum in BSL-3, and diesel tank in the generator cage(west <br /> parking lot). <br /> AREA WARDENS <br /> 1. Contact the FTC by telephone. FTC will alert aides. <br /> z. Notify departments to evacuate the facility. <br /> 3. Assess the area for damage and evidence and location of smoke or fire. <br /> 4.
