ACTIVE SHOOTER <br /> OBJECTIVES <br /> Each employee should <br /> 1. Know actions to take when confronted with an active shooter <br /> 2. Know actions to take when encountering the responding law enforcement officials <br /> 3. Recognize potential workplace violence indicators <br /> 4. Describe actions to take to prevent and prepare for potential active shooter incidents <br /> S. Describe how to manage the consequences of an active shooter incident <br /> FTC and Area Wardens should <br /> 1. Notify police immediately <br /> z. Assess the immediate danger <br /> 3. Notify and evacuate other employees if able to do so <br /> 4. Follow the procedures listed below regarding the proper response to this situation:whether it is <br /> to RUN, HIDE or FIGHT <br /> • <br /> FACILITY THREAT COORDINATOR <br /> Immediately call 9-9-1-1. When reporting the situation to authorities(police, etc.)the FTC will state: <br /> • Location of shooting, and shooter if known <br /> • Number of shooters,weapons and physical description <br /> • Potential victims <br /> • Your location and number of persons if hiding together <br /> ALL EMPLOYEES <br /> When a shooter is in the vicinity,think quickly: Choose the most reasonable way to protect yourself. <br /> RUN <br /> If there is an accessible escape path, attempt to evacuate the premises: <br /> • Have an escape route and plan in mind <br /> • Evacuate regardless of whether others agree to follow <br /> • Leave your belongings behind <br /> 15 SJCPHS Emergency Plan—January 2019 <br />
