.. .,oe
Assessment of Contamination
Addendum to Revised Work Plan
1. Introduction
This addendum to the Revised Work Plan and Evaluation of Alternatives for Containment of The
Chloroform Plume in Groundwater (Revised Work Plan) has been prepared by Condor Earth
Technologies, Inc. (Condor) on behalf of Triple E Produce Corporation (Triple E). This
addendum has been prepared to comply with the conditions of acceptance of the Revised Work
Plan as stated by the California Regional Water Quality Control Board (Regional Board) in a
letter to Triple E dated 31 July 1995. In the Revised Work Plan, Triple E indicated its intent
not to perform any characterization work of the chloroform plume north (downgradient) of
monitoring well MW-7, since chloroform concentrations detected in MW-7 are still within the
range of chloroform from other potential sources in the area north of MW-7. In its letter, the
_ Regional Board requested Triple E to provide additional information to support its position. This
addendum addresses the Regional Board's requests and provides responses to each request.
2. Request 1
"The work plan states that no fewer than eight swimming pools were present within 2,000 feet
of MW-7 as of 1987, but only one swimming pool is shown in the figure in Appendix E."
3. Response 1
Appendix E of the Revised Work Plan referred to the Final Report of the AB-1803 Follow-Up
Program, San Joaquin Co. Small System Well, Maurland Manor. The report, dated December
1987, stated that "two swimming pools were sampled to determine the levels of chlorine they
contained." The test data, however, reports trilialomethanes not chlorine. Page 18 of the
report, which showed data for the second pool, was omitted from Appendix E because this pool
was not near MW-7. A corrected Appendix E, which includes the second swimming pool
sample, is herewith submitted. Data for the two swimming pools is shown in Table 1 below.
Table 1
Sample ID Chemical and
_ And Address Concentrations
611MM-5P Chloroform = 15.9 ppb
8875 W.
