Local county public works and environmental health departments consider the well logs
"proprietary" information and would not release this information.
The three wells are interconnected by a pipeline system. All of the system can be chlorinated.
Periodically the system is chlorinated. Due to construction activities within the system, it is
_ currently being chlorinated to provide a residual chlorine concentration of 1 to 2 ppm and 0.50
to 0.75 ppm at the most distant outlet in the system. Tile decision to chlorinate is based on
bacterial counts in the water as determined by periodic testing. The water is generally tested
every three years for volatile organic compounds (VOC) which include chloroform. Mr. Rall
stated that chloroform presence has not been detected in the wells. The Fairoaks wells are
reported to be scheduled for VOC testing in September 1995. The most recent test data on file
with the local Department of Environmental Health (Maurland Manor -07/25/91, Fairoaks #/3
(also known as ##1) and Fairoaks #/2 - 07/13/92) indicates that chloroform was not detected any
of these three community wells. Copies of the laboratory reports are enclosed in Appendix C
of this addendum. It should be noted that the samples are "source" samples taken from each
well before chlorination.
All of the residences north of MW-7 are on private septic systems. Chlorinated compounds as
precursors of chloroform and other TIlMs may be discharged to the soil from septic system
leach lines. These anthropogenic sources are considered to be potential sources of
r- trilia]omethane compounds which can migrate to the ground water.
This addendum to the Revised Work Plan and Evaluation of Alternatives for Containment of The
Chloroform Plume in Groundwater has been prepared solely for the use of Triple E Produce,
inc., and any questions regarding the content of this document should be addressed to Mr. Nate
Esformes or Mr. Torn Guido, P.O. Box 239, Tracy, CA 95378.
Respectfully submitted,
Robert C. Dixon, CPAg
Project Manager
/assessment of Contamination
/Addendum to Revised Work Plan
Triple R Produce Corp.,Tracy
r
5 Ne-w
ti CONDOR
