Y
Mr. Nathan Esformes -3- 15 May 1996
Startup of the extraction system is not going to show that MW-7 is the most northerly point of
chloroform. Actual sampling of the ground water north of MW-7 is necessary to make that
determination.
Triple E has consistently refused to monitor the ground water north of MW-7, by either
installing monitoring wells or sampling existing domestic wells. If Triple E continues to refuse
to determine the extent of chloroform contamination north of Fair Oaks Road, Board staff will
sample the domestic wells to the north and bill staff and analytical expenses to Triple E. After
obtaining sufficient data, we will determine the need for installation of additional monitoring
wells.
Please let me know by 7 June 1996 if Triple E is going to conduct the required sampling to
determine the extent of chloroform contamination north of MW-7. If Triple E decides to
conduct the required sampling, then a work plan must be submitted with the response. If
Triple E will not do the required sampling, Board staff will conduct the sampling and bill staff
and analytical expenses to Triple E.
If you have any questions, you may call me at(916) 255-3048.
POLLOWRY
Associate Engineering Geologist
PAL:pal/lsb
cc: San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Stockton
Mr. Robert Dixon, Condor Earth Technologies, Inc., Stockton
Mr. Michael Campos, Graham & James, Sacramento
NLr.
