(Condor) is pleased to submit the above
r, referenced Work Plan.
To correct malfunctions which have occurred in the treatment plant,
the Work Plan focuses on modifications and operating changes to the
treatment process . Included in these changes is the pre-treatment
of the wash water to remove free chlorine and to reduce foaming.
Triple E expects these changes will return the plant to compliance
with respect to removal of chloroform to below designated levels .
In paragraph 9 . 0, page 7 , of the Work Plan, Triple E requests
revisions to its current Waste Discharge Requirements for the
chlorinated wash water generated by its fresh market tomato packing
facility. Those requirements are set forth in Order No. 90-142
adopted on 25 May 1990 by the California Regional Water Quality
Control Board, Central Valley Region. As an adjunct to this Work
Plan, a new Report of Waste Discharge has been prepared and is
enclosed herewith.
Concurrently, Condor is also preparing a Work Plan to address
various issues related to the ground water including containment
and reduction of chloroform contamination. That Work Plan will be
.. submitted by 14 July 1995 to the Regional Board to the attention of
Polly Lowry, Associate Engineering Geologist . Enclosed, however,
is the Report of Waste Discharge for pumping and aeration of the
ground water as described in the Work Plan. It is anticipated,
however, that during certain times in the winter months, when
evaporative rates are low, pumped ground water will be treated in
.. the existing treatment plant before being discharged to the storm
water pond.
ENVIRONMENTAL GEOLOGICAL ENGINEERING GEOTECHNICAL
