These
three reports have been submitted in response to our initial
request made back in July 1987 . At a meeting on 2 March 1988 our
request for this information was reiterated and a new time table
was agreed upon. Each of the reports was submitted slightly past
the dates agreed upon at that. meeting.
Domestic Well Survey Plan
At the 2 March meeting it was agreed upon that Triple E would not
have to sample, initially anyway, all 63 wells within a 1 mile
radius of the facility. The subsequent plan calls for the
sampling of 22 wells in the area with 3 being in the suspect up-
gradient direction. This plan was given a conditional approval
during a telephone conversation with Paul Draper, General Manager
of Triple E on 6 June 1988 . The condition of this approval was
that the follow up report would include the well drillers reports
of as many of the wells in the area as possible. I informed Paul
that this information should be available through the Department
of Water Resources.
Report of Waste Discharge
This submittal contained follow up information we had requested
after receiving the RWD application and filing fees on 19 January
1988 . Triple E is going to treat their process wastewater with
air strippers to remove the chloroform which forms as a result of
chlorination in the tomato processing wash water. The water will
be treated to a level not to exceed . 5
Ppb chloroform and be
discharged to a Banta Carbona Irrigation District canal . This
does not seem to be a problem since the Triple E discharge is
seasonal and corresponds with the irrigation season. The system
is projected to be on line by the beginning of packing season,
which is anticipated to be 1 July 1988 .
Since the BCID has given permission for this discharge and the
additional water for irrigation should be a benefit, waste
t
i Lam. :f i .sr. ..jf r. .!,. . .. v.t.+:p; .'1., f '':2:3'i• .;49vr+^,v... r - ...
