T98.12.11 <br /> May 5, 1999 <br /> Mr. Kevin Post <br /> URSA Engineering <br /> 3963 Eastside Road <br /> Redding, CA 96001 <br /> Dear Kevin: <br /> SUBJECT: SAMPLING AND TESTING,UNDER GOROUNNDD WASTE-OIL <br /> TANK REMOVAL,MANTECA,CAL <br /> INTRODUCTION <br /> ` This letter reports results from sampling and testing performed on April 15, 1998, <br /> i <br /> j following underground storage tank(UST)removal at Jiffy Lube, 1130 North Main <br /> Street, Manteca, California(Figure 1). One 1;000-gallon underground waste-oil tank <br /> was removed by URSA Engineering. <br /> Sampling was performed on behalf of Jiffy Lube per the requirements of San Joaquin <br /> Matt Parker of San Joaquin County Public Health <br /> County Public Health Services. Mr. <br /> Services, Environmental Health Division,was onsite during tank removal. Soil samples <br /> were removed from the bottom of the excavation, under piping,and the soil stockpile. <br /> i <br /> FINDINGS <br /> 1. No ground water was detected in the excavation(above 12 feet below Around <br /> surface). <br /> 2. Methyl tert-butyl ether(MTBE) was detected in soil at the bottom of the tank <br /> excavation at a concentration of 6.5 µg/Kg. <br /> ;. Total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) as motor oil/waste oil was detected at a <br /> concentration of 37 mg/Kg in soil sampled from the tank-removal stockpile. <br /> 4. No TPH as gasoline; <br /> TPH as diesel;benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene. and total xylenes <br /> (BTEX); chlorinated hydrocarbons (Cl HC); polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB); or <br /> i cadmium(Cd), chromium (Cr), lead(Pb), nickel (Ni) and zinc (Zn) were detected in <br /> any of the samples collected. <br /> DESCRIPTION OF WORK <br /> One soil sample was collected from the bottom of the tank excavation, two feet below the <br /> bottom of the tank.
