SITE LOCATION The site is-located in a topographically flat business/residential area of Stockton, California,(Figure` l). The site is located on°1Iarding-Way,'approximately.U.25,miles west of the intersection.6f Pacific Avenue. The site is.currently occupied by a dry cleaning business: TANK REMOVAL Eight underground storage tanks”(USTs)were;removed from the site in January'1991. The tanks .were used to store=Stoddard solvents used'in a dry cleaning,process. Tanks'#1•through 97'were removed from a'comrnowexcavation along the southern portion of the property (tank pit #1) Tank 98'was re'moved,from_beneath the sidewalk along Van Buren Street (t.arik pit #2). :s ..Soil samples collected from tank pit #1-indi6ated,that an unauthorized release'of hydrocaibons has ; occurred..,Total petroleum hydrocarbons(TPH as stoddard solvent)w'er'e detected at concentration!§' ` �up to 3,000'parts.per million(ppm).
