l
0
2.5 Additional Soil and Groundwater Assessment
The down gradient extent of the hydrocarbon impacted soil and groundwater has not been
defined, therefore the San Joaquin County Public Health Services - Environmental Health
Division (PHS/EHD) is requiring further assessment of the impacted soil and groundwater.
3.0 SCOPE OF WORK
To continue the assessment of the impacted soil and groundwater at the site, additional
monitoring wells will be drilled and installed. Initially, GeoAudit proposes to install two
wells off-site. However, if impacted soil and groundwater are encountered, additional wells
may be required.
Two monitoring wells will be installed in the City of Stockton right-of-way. One monitoring
well will be Iocated in the sidewalk immediately north of the building on-Site; the other
monitoring well will be installed northwest of the property on Van Buren Street. Each
boring will be drilled to a depth of approximately 55 feet and sampled at five-foot intervals.
However, subsurface strictures may restrict the locations of monitoring wells in this area.
The approximate locations of the proposed monitoring wells are illustrated in Figure 2.
If the proposed drilling does not completely delineate the extent of impacted soil and
groundwater at the site, additional wells will be installed. Proposed locations for additional
wells will be submitted to the PHS/EHD for approval prior to drilling.
4.0 PROCEDURES
To meet the project objectives, the following procedures Nvill be performed:
1) Prepare a Site Health and Safety Plan in accordance with the Occupational Safety
and Health Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities - Prepared by
National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, Occupational Safety and
Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency, October 1485.
2) Notify the San Joaquin County Environmental Public Health Services -
Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) 48 hours prior to commencement of any
work_
3) Initially, a total of two (2) borings will be drilled. The borings will be drilled using
a truck-mounted drill rig equipped with continuous-flight, 8-inch diameter hollow-
stem augers. All borings will be drilled to depths of at least 55 feet. Each boring will
be completed as a groundwater monitoring well (see figure 3).
