1
1
QUARTERLY REPORT
Hess-Dubois Cleaners
348 West Harding Way
tStockton, California
September 1994
i,
1.0 INTRODUCTION
' In accordance with a request from Mr. Peter Wallace, property owner, Geological Audit
Services, Inc. (GeoAudit) has prepared this report summarizing monitoring activities
performed during the third quarter of 1994 at 348 West Harding Way in Stockton,
California (the site). Three groundwater monitoring wells at the site were sampled during
the third quarter. Also included in this report are monthly monitoring data for August and
' October 1994. The location of the site is illustrated in Figure 1. A plan of the site is
illustrated in Figure 2.
2.0 BACKGROUND
2.1 Site Location
The site is located in a topographicallyflat business/residential area of Stockton, California
(Figure 1). The site is located on Harding Way, approximately 1/4-mile west of thea,
intersection of Pacific Avenue. The site is currently occupied by a dry cleaning business.
2.2 Tank Removal
Eight underground storage tanks (UST's) were removed from the site by Falcon Energy
' Associates (FEA) in January 1991. It is our understanding that the tanks contained Stoddard
solvents used in a dry cleaning process.
' Tanks #1 through #7 were removed from a common excavation along the southern portion
of the property (tank pit #1). Tank #8 was removed from beneath the sidewalk along Van
Buren Street (tank pit #2). The volume of each tank is listed in Table 1.
Soil samples collected from tank pit #1 indicated that an unauthorized release of
hydrocarbons has occurred. Total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH as stoddard solvent) were
detected at concentrations of 970 ppm to 3,000 ppm. Volatile aromatics (BTE&X)were also
detected in tank pit #1. No TPH or BTE&X were detected in tank pit #2.
bwl j-]Audit S..k—1a 1 .
Hs.-pBos QRMO-%73
