The site is located on Harding Way, approximately. 114-mile west of the
intersection of Pacific Avenue. The site is currently occupied by a dry cleaning business_.
2.2 Tank Removal
Eight underground storage tanks (UST's) were removed from the site by .Falcon Energy
Associates (FEA) in January 1991. It is our understanding that the tanks contained stoddard
solvents used in a dry cleaning process.
Tanks #1 - #7 were removed from a common excavation along the southern portion of the
property (tank pit #1). Tank #8 was removed from beneath the sidewalk along Van Buren
Street (tank pit #2). The volume of each tank is listed in Table 1.
Soil samples collected from tank pit #1 indicated that an unauthorized release of
' hydrocarbons has occurred. Total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH as stoddard solvent) were
detected at concentrations of 970 ppm to 3,000 ppm. Volatile aromatics (BTE&X)were also
detected in tank pit #1. No TPH or BTI were detected in tank pit #2.
1'
06IIsbpa,A.&Ue,ix.I..
