The
wells were installed under the supervision of John P. Cummings &Associates (JPA). A total
of 23 soil samples were analyzed by Sparger Technology, Inc. (STI) for TPH as stoddard
solvent and BTE&X.
No TPH or BTE&X were detected in samples from MW-1 or MW-2. However, TPH was
detected in samples from MW-3 of concentrations up to 2,000 ppm (MW-3 16'); toluene,
ethylbenzene and xylenes were detected in samples from MW-3 at concentrations up.to 51
' ppm (xylenes, MW-3 16). The analytical results of the soil samples are summarized in Table
2.
' Groundwater samples were collected from each well on November 4, 1993 by representatives
of JPA. The samples were analyzed for TPH as Stoddard solvent and BTE&X by STI. TPH
and BTE&X were detected in each well. The analytical results of groundwater samples are
' included in Table 4.
' 2.4 Monthly Monitoring
In a letter dated December 31, 1993, the San Joaquin County Public Health Services -
Environmental Health Division(PHS/EHD)recommended that"monthly measurements and
' gradient calculations be initiated for the site to verify the groundwater direction."
