AGE informed the EHD that reimbursement
for your claims by the California State Water Resources Control Board (CSWRCB) under the
Underground Storage Tank (UST) Cleanup Fund has been suspended, resulting in a lack of
financial support to implement the above-described fieldwork.
Instead of collecting groundwater samples from all three monitoring wells during the fourth
quarter 2009, the EHD directs that samples be collected from MW-1 during the third quarter
2009, and analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPHg); benzene,
toluene, ethyl benzene, and total xylenes (BTEX); methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), and
tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME). Continue sampling MW-1 semi-annually. Biennially
sample monitoring wells MW-2 and MW-3 and analyze the samples for TPHg.
Submit an evaluation of the potential for vapor intrusion inside structures at your site. Residual
contaminant concentrations should be compared to Environmental Screening Levels (ESLs) and
California Human Health Screening Levels (CHHSLs) established by California Environmental
Protection Agency San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board, and an evaluation
of the need to collect soil gas samples should be included. Submit the evaluation to the EHD by
August 27, 2009.
If the report of findings for the vapor intrusion evaluation and the comparison of site data to the
appropriate ESLs are favorable, the report can be submitted as part of a site closure summary
report. Include in the closure summary report an evaluation of the hazard posed by impacted
