r
Messrs Trommer and Lan 19 June 2008
Preliminary Five-Year Review Letters Page 5 of 7
Various Sites
2651 Airport Way, S.
• The CUF recommended that the EHD direct assessment of remedial
technologies and implement active remediation to achieve WQOs in a timely
manner. The EHD agrees with these recommendations but notes that a report of
findings for four cone penetration test (CPT) borings with membrane interface
probe (MIP) logs advanced last April is in preparation; upon receipt and review of
the report, the EHD will issue directives as appropriate. The EHD anticipates the
directives will be as recommended by the CUF.
3755 Munford Avenue
• The CUF recommended that the EHD direct the RP to implement groundwater
remediation to achieve WQOs in a timely manner; the EHD agrees with the
recommendation, noting that SVE is in progress and the consultant has
recommended addition of IAS and installation of additional SVE wells. The EHD
will be requesting a corrective action plan (CAP) to evaluate the most effective
technology to employ.
139 Center Street, S.
• The CUF recommended that the EHD direct the RP to assess remedial
technologies and the potential for vapor to enter nearby buildings; the EHD
agrees with these recommendations.
308 EI Dorado Street, S.
• The CUF recommended that the EHD direct assessment of remedial
technologies and implement active remediation to achieve WQOs in a timely
manner. The EHD agrees with these recommendations, a directive letter has
been sent.
244 Harding Way, W.
• The CUF recommended that the EHD direct the RP to define the extent of
groundwater contamination northeast of MW-1; the EHD agrees with this
recommendation and has approved additional monitoring wells east-northeast
and west of MW-1. Grab groundwater sample data from CPTs north of MW-1
have been non-detect.
3250 Hammer Lane, W.
• The CUF recommended assessment of remedial technologies to achieve WQOs
more rapidly; the EHD agrees with this recommendation. The consultant has
recommended ozone injection; a report on the evaluation of ozone injection is
pending.
3400 Newton Road
• The CUF concurred with the EHD directive to install four additional groundwater
monitoring wells, but recommends that the appropriateness of conducting an
SVE test be evaluated. The EHD has approved a 48-hour groundwater extraction
test, but has no documentation of approving an SVE test.
5-Year Review Comment Letter 46190$.doc
