' 3.3 Monitoring Well Purge Procedures
In accordance with quarterly monitoring procedures, all wells were purged following the
measurement of groundwater depths on January 31 and April 13, 1994. PVC bailers and
submersible purge pumps were used to remove between 3 and 5 well volumes of water from
each well. The wells were purged to stabilize pH, temperature and conductivity. Parameters
were measured using an TCM water analyzer. Purge water was stored in 55-gallon DOT
drums and stored on-site. Monitoring well data sheets are included in Appendix B.
3.4 Groundwater Sample Collection and Analysis
tAfter purging, groundwater samples were collected using disposable plastic bailers. Three
40-m1 EPA vials and one 1-liter amber bottle were used to collect water samples from each
well. The samples were transmitted in a chilled container to McCampbell Analytical in
Pacheco, California.
' The samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH as gas and diesel), and
BTE&X in accordance with EPA methods 8015m and 602, respectively.
3.5 Drum Sampling
On March 30, 1994 eight drums containing purge water were sampled under the direction
of the PHS/EHD.The samples were collected using clean, plastic disposable bailers. Samples
from the drums were composited (D-1, D-2 and D-13; D-8 through D-12) and analyzed for
TPH as gasoline and BTE&X in accordance with EPA methods 8015m and 602,
respectively.
Drums containing soil cuttings were emptied and stockpiled on plastic sheeting. Three
' samples were collected from the stockpiled soil (Y-1, Y-2, Y-3) and composited for analysis
on April 1, 1994. The sample was analyzed for TPH gasoline and diesel and BTE&X.
4.0 FINDINGS
' 4.1 Soil Sample Analysis
' Twelve soil samples were transported under chain-of-custody to McCampbell Analytical,Inc.
(MAI) and analyzed for TPH (as gasoline and diesel) and BTE&X in accordance with EPA
methods 8015 and020, respectively. No petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in any of
the analyzed soil samples from MW-6, MW-7 or MW-8. The Iaboratory report of the soil
sample analysis is included in Appendix C.
Ile
.y
673-SIQR49/Yclb.5.6.x.n.e
