Low concentrations of toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes were detected in the composite
water sample from drums D-8 through D-12. Upon approval from the City of Stockton, we
recommend that water contained in these drums be discharged into the sanitary sewer.
5.4 Site Closure
' GeoAudit does not believe that a significant volume of hydrocarbon impacted soil remains
at the site. It is unlikely that any method of remediation would be effective or cost efficient
' to mitigate the remaining impacted soil. Furthermore, the impacted soil on-site is likely only
a small fraction of the impacted soil off-site.
' GeoAudit believes that hydrocarbons detected intermittently in groundwater at the site are
a result of an off-site source. Hydrocarbon concentrations detected in groundwater at the
site are very low; remediation of this groundwater would not be cost-efficient and would ..
' likely be ineffective. We recommend that the site be approved for closure.
Upon approval from the PHS/EHD, all monitoring wells at the site should be destroyed in
' accordance with County and/or State regulations. After the wells have been properly
abandoned, a request for site closure should be submitted.
6.0 LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily
exercised by environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities. The findings
were based upon analytical results provided by an independent laboratory. Evaluations of
the geologic/hydrogeologic conditions at the site for the purpose of this investigation are
made from a limited number of available data points (i.e. boriugs and monitoring wells) and
t subsurface conditions may vary away from these data points. No other warranty is made as
to the professional recommendations contained in this report.
1
r
ej_1 ti4k 5" 14
V3.WRa.9VY"—S.b9 jP.
t
