i <br /> Trea* 1b <br /> REMEDIATION AND GROUNDWATER MONITORING WORK PLAN <br /> FORMER CARAND:O SITE <br /> 420 North Madison Street <br /> Stockton, California <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> This work plan presents the plan for additional remediation and groundwater monitoring at the <br /> Carando Machine Works Site at 420 North Madison Street(Figures 1 &2). The City of <br /> Stockton(City) owns the Site, and Treadwell&Rollo,Inc.(Treadwell&Rollo)has been <br /> retained by the City to consult on soil contamination characterization and remediation work. The <br /> SarrJoaquin County Environmental Health Department(SJCEHD) is overseeing the soil and <br /> groundwater characterization and remediation work at the Site related to past releases from the <br /> former gasoline service station that occupied the Site. <br /> i <br /> The.objectives of the remediation are;to mitigate soil and groundwater contamination, and to <br /> place an oxygen compound in the subsurface to expedite and assist in-situ bioremediation of <br /> contaminants. The object of the groundwater monitoring is to better characterize the extent of <br /> the groundwater impacts, and to help evaluate the need for additional monitoring and remedial <br /> measures. This workplan presents the-following: <br /> 1. A summary ofprevious site uses and investigations. <br /> 2. Results of the completed remedial work. <br /> 3. A plan for additional remedial work, and <br /> f 4. A plan for groundwater monitoring. <br /> F. <br /> 2.0 SITE DESCRIPTION <br /> The Site is part of the Banner Island°Redevelopment Project,which includes the area north of the <br /> Stockton Channel bounded by North_Lincoln Street to the west,West Fremont Street to the <br />
