The EHD approves the proposed
wells and locations, but requires also a third cluster of two wells, in order to allow for calculation of
groundwater gradient and flow direction, and to provide information on the lateral extent of the plume. Please
proceed with submittal of a Work Plan Addendum that includes a proposal for a third cluster of two wells. The
Addendum is due to the EHD no later than March 30, 2012.
This site has been undergoing an environmental investigation since 1990. During redevelopment
construction activities in 2004 a previously unknown underground storage tank (UST) was discovered. It was
subsequently removed under permit and inspection by the EHD. An Unauthorized Release Report and
Notification of Hazardous Waste Discharge report were filed on the newly discovered tank and new Notice of
Responsibility and Site Letters were issued to the Responsible Parties. The EHD recommends the
Responsible Parties file a claim to the State Water Resources Control Board Cleanup Fund on the new tank
site, and that the possibility of filing a commingled plume account application for these two sites be
considered.
If you have any questions please contact Lori Duncan at (209) 468-0337 or by email at
IduncanC@s1cehd.com.
Sincerely,
Lori Duncan, REHS Nuel C.
