Setness Professional Law Corp. r-
3203 West March Lane, Suite 120 /
Stockton, CA 95219
WORKPLAN: Remedial Action /Feasibility Pilot Tests Work Plan DATED: February 10, 2000
PREPARED BY: Advanced GeoEnviron mental,Inc. t
h
APPROVED with Conditions (see below)
DISAPPROVED ❑
ADDENDUM ❑ Submit by :
ADEQUATE AND NECESSARY ELEMENTS OF THE WORKPLAN (H&S 25299.37,subd.(c)(3).):
a
1. Limited overexcavation in the area of UST#1 as proposed in CAP
2. Installation of 2 MWs in the area of UST#8 for extraction pilot test.
3. Destruction of IAS-1 and IAS-2 which no longer function as they're originally intended in !
accordance to San Joaquin County Well Standards
4. Conducting a pump test to evaluate the feasibility of water extraction as a possible cleanup
alternative since previous investigation identified the plume to be at a depth beyond the reach of
excavation.
5. Analyses of water samples for physiochemcial properties and bioenumeration to evaluate the
feasibility of natural attenuation as a potential corrective action alternative.
COMMENTS AND CONDITIONS:
1. PHS/EHD recommends revising the placemtn of the screen of the proposed MWS from 12
feet bsg to 37 feet bsg, to below the water table (approximately 15 to 17 feet bsg over the last 2
years for MW20B and MW21B) such than the screen is fully penetrated into the aquifer- The
length of the screen should not extend below the proposed 37 feet bsg since a clay layer exists at
approximately 40 feet bsg and the majority of the contamination is identified to be in the sand
layers above that.
2. PHS/EHD recommends modifying the duration of a pump test from the proposed 8 hours to
minimally 24 hours. PHS/EHD also recommend using trace gas helium and helium detectors.
REASONS FOR DISAPPROVAL OF THE WORKPLAN (H&S 25299.37, subd.(C)(3).):
i
DATED BYVI /
i
Cc: CRWQCB,Central Valley Region—Marty Hartzell
Fax: Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc.—Kevin McKibben
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services f
I
