The report fails to
describe the next scope of work. The report does not draw any conclusions based upon data
which has been gathered to date. The report does not mention soil contamination which is still
present at both sites.
At this time the plume at the Van Buren Street site has not been adequately characterized. The
plume at the Madison Street site has not been characterized to the north east, downgradient of
the former tank 2 location in the sidewalk along Madison Street. The plume has not been
characterized to the south, downgradient of the former Tank 8 and Tank 1 locations which are
behind the building.
The plume at the Van Buren Street site has not been adequately characterized in any direction
by wells installed by Chase Chevrolet. There are two wells in the center of Van Buren Street
which were installed by Crystal Creamery. These wells have extremely low levels of
contamination as opposed to the high levels of contamination in Chase wells 6 and 7. This
indicates that the Chase and the Crystal plumes have not become commingled at this time in this
location.
As soon as the plume at the Van Buren Street site becomes defined, implementation of a
groundwater treatment system will be required. When this occurs a meeting will be scheduled
by PHS/EHD requesting the presence of all representatives of the Chase Chevrolet sites and the
Crystal Creamery site to discuss a coordinated cleanup effort.
A Dkicinn of San Joaquin fount Health Care Services
