n "31 k r4 a fs.• � J, I v <br />!i 3� <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION/PREVIOUS WORK <br /> This report is being submitted in response to a request by <br /> the City of Stockton Redevelopment Agency to perform a <br /> subsurface site assessment on the Chase Chevrolet property <br /> at 423 North Madison Avenue in Stockton (Figure 1), <br /> The Redevelopment Agency plans to <br /> purchase the Chase <br /> Chevrolet property requires knowledge of potential soil <br /> and/or groundwater contamination which may be encountered <br /> during construe_tic: n. <br /> On May 14, 1986 hydrocarbon contamination of soils was noted <br /> i..; during the removal of five underground tanks from two <br /> locations at the project sites (Figures 2 and 3). The tanks <br /> �., were installed in 1965. All product lines were also removed <br /> during the original excavation work which was witnessed by a <br /> San Joaquin Local Health District representative. <br /> Laboratory analysis of soil samples collected beneath the <br /> tanks recorded elevated concentrations of hydreocarbon <br /> constituents.
