INTRODUCTION <br /> ' At the request of Mr Jeffery Setness of Hartmann & Setness,Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc <br /> (AGE)has prepared this Quarterly Report summarizing field activities performed during the third <br /> quarter of 1998 at 423 North Madison Street, Stockton, California The scope of work included the <br /> t installation of three dual-completed ground water monitoring wells, monitoring concentrations of <br /> dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons in ground water on the site and preparation of this report The site <br /> setting is illustrated in Figure 1 - Location Map Structures and monitoring well locations are <br /> illustrated in Figure 2 -Site Plan <br /> Field activities were performed in accordance with guidelines for investigation of underground <br /> ' storage tank(UST) sites established by the Regional Water Quality Control Board - Central Valley <br /> Region (RWQCB-CVR) and by the San Joaquin County Public Health Services - Environmental <br /> ' Health Division (PHS-EHD) Background information was summarized in the Revised Corrective <br /> Action Plan - February 1997 and Site Investigation Report - UST No 8, dated 10 February 1998 <br /> both prepared by AGE <br /> 2.0 PROCEDURES <br /> 2 1 DRILLING AND SAMPLING <br /> ' On 19 through 23 June 1998, three soil borings were advanced at the site Borings MW-19, M W-20 <br /> and MW-21 were advanced to a depth of 55 feet below surface grade (bsg) using a B-53 drill rig <br /> equipped with 8 25-inch diameter hollow-stem augers The drill rig and three-man crew were ' <br /> ' supplied by Central Valley Drilling (CVD) of Rancho Cordova, California Auger returns generated <br /> by drilling were placed on plastic sheeting and stored on-site pending laboratory analysis <br /> ' Soil samples were collected ahead of the drill bit using a split-tube sampler loaded with three pre- <br /> cleaned 2-inch by 6-inch brass sleeves The samples were collected at five-foot intervals, beginning <br /> at a depth of 15 feet bsg in borings MW-19 and MW-20 and beginning at a depth of 5 feet bsg in <br /> boring MW-21,using a 140-pound hammer to advance the sampler 18 inches The number of blows <br /> required to advance the sampler in 6-inch increments was recorded on the boring logs Sampling <br /> ' equipment was washed in an Alconox solution and rinsed with water prior to each sampling run to <br /> avoid cross-contamination <br /> ' For each sample,both ends of the leading sleeve were covered with Teflon sheets, capped and sealed <br /> with tape The samples were labeled, stored on ice and transported under chain-of-custody to <br /> McCampbell Analytical, Inc (MAI), a California Department of Health Services (DHS)-certified <br /> r <br /> Adranced GeoEmironmenial Inc <br />
