10 February 1998
AGE-NC Project No 95-0144
' 3 2 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF SOIL AND WATER SAMPLES
Organic vapor was detected in all soil samples collected from probing GP35 at concentrations
ranging from 2 to 428 parts per million(ppm) Organic vapor was detected in GP36 only at a depth
of 30 feet bsg with a concentration of 125 ppm Organic vapor was detected in probing GP37
between 20 and 60 feet bsg at concentrations as high as 240 ppm
TPH-g and TPH-d were detected in soil samples from probing GP35 at depths of 20 and 25 feet bsg
at concentrations as high as 16,000 parts per million (ppm, reported as milligrams per kilogram)
' Only ethylbenzene and xylenes were detected in sample GP35-40 at concentrations of 0 007 ppm
and 0 022 ppm,respectively TPH-g and TPH-d were detected in sample GP36-30 at concentrations
of 9 6 ppm and 44 ppm, respectively Petroleum hydrocarbons were not detected in soil samples
from probing GP36 at depths of 20 or 35 feet bsg TPH-g and TPH-d were detecxed in sample GP37-
35 at concentrations of 890 ppm and 870 ppm, respectively and in sample GP37-50 at concentrations
of 76 ppm and 33 ppm, respectively TPH-g was detected in sample GP37-60 at a concentration of
2 7 ppm Benzene was detected in three of the eleven soil samples analyzed at concentrations as high
as 4 9 ppm MTBE was not detected in soil samples analyzed from the site
' • TPH-g and TPH-d were detected in the water sample collected from a depth of 20 feet bsg in GP35
at concentrations of 51,000 parts per billion (ppb, reported as micrograms per liter) and 1,300,000
ppb, respectively and in the water sample collected from a depth of 45 1'eet bsg in GP35 at
concentrations of 640 ppb and 4,700 ppb, respectively TPH-g and TPH-d were detected in the water
sample collected from probing GP37 at concentrations of 1,600 ppb and 950 ppb, respectively
BTE&X were detected at concentrations ranging from 1 0 ppb (benzene, GP35 at 45 feet) to 3,400
(toluene, GP35 at 20 feet) MTBE was not detected in water samples collected
' Lower concentrations of BTE&X were detected in all soil and water samples analyzed using EPA
Method 8260 The laboratory report notes that this discrepancy is presumably due to the less certain
compound identification/resolution inherent in EPA Method 8020 or due to sample inhomogeneity
Tertiary butanol was detected'in the water sample collected from probing GP37 at a concentration
of 15 ppb Oxygenating compounds were not detected in the remaining water or soil samples
' analyzed from the site Ten additional constituents were detected at the site by EPA Method 8260
Analytical results are summarized on Tables 1 and 2 The laboratory report (MAI sample Nos
83788-83801) and chain-of-custody forms are included in Appendix B
4 0. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS
Based upon data collected from the site, AGE concludes the following
' Advanced GcoEnvironmentai,Inc
