I <br /> I <br /> • 23 May 2001 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 95-0144 <br /> IPage 4 of 8 <br /> ' 26 EXCAVATION SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS <br /> Soil samples were collected from the floor and sidewalls of the excavation and stockpiled soil by <br /> AGE personnel Excavation samples were coll6cted from the excavator bucket using 2-inch by 3- <br /> inch brass sleeves Stockpiled soil samples were collected by digging approximately one foot into <br /> the soil'and then pushing 2-inch by 3-inch brass sleeves into the soil pile <br /> Upon collection,the exposed ends ofthe sample sleeve were covered with Teflon sheets, capped and <br /> sealed with tape Each sample sleeve was then labeled with a unique identification, the depth, time, r <br /> date and sampler's initials Appropriately sealed and labeled samples were placed in a chilled <br /> container under ice and transported under chain-of-custody to MAI Selected soil samples were <br /> analyzed for the following constituents <br /> • TPH-g, TPH-d and TPH-mo by EPA Method 8015 Modified, <br /> + BTEX by EPA Method 8020, <br /> • Fuel oxygenates including di-isopropyl ether(DIPS), ethyl tert-butyl ether(ETBE), MTBE, <br /> tertiary amyl methyl ether(TAME), tertiary butanol (TBA), methanol and ethanol and ethyl <br /> dibrornide (EDB) and 1,2 dichloroethane (1,2 - DCA) by EPA Method 8260 Modified, <br /> • CAM 17 metals by EPA Methods 6010, 7471, 7060, 7740 and 7841, and ' <br /> • Volatile halocarbons by EPA Method 8010 <br /> J r t r E <br /> 3.0. FINDINGS <br /> ' Ground water'elevation and flow direction were calculated from field data, hydrocarbon-impact to <br /> I <br /> ground water and soil was inferred from laboratory analysis of the ground water and excavation <br /> samples <br /> ' 31 RELATIVE GROUNDWATER ELEVATION AND GRADIENT r <br /> The elevation of ground water in each well was calculated by subtracting the depth to water from the- <br /> surveyed casing elevation (Table 1) Between November 2000 and February 2001, ground water <br /> elevation increased between 0 37 'feet and 1 04 feet`in the 15 wells at the site The approximate <br /> hydraulic gradient for the February 2001 monitoring event was inferred to be 0 003 ft/ft with a <br /> northeast flow direction Ground water elevation contours derived from data collected on 28 <br /> • February 2001 are depicted in Figure 3 Ground water was between approximately 0 82 and 6 08 feet <br /> above the screened interval in monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-4, MW-5, MW-8, MW-11, <br /> Advanced GeoEnvironmeutai,Inc <br /> 1 1 ! <br />
