1 <br /> 1 Quarterly Report - First Quarter 2002 <br /> Farmer CHASE CHEVROLET (MADISON) Facility <br /> I423 North Madison Street, Stockton, California <br /> ' 1.0. INTRODUCTION <br /> At the request of the City of Stockton,Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc (AGE)has prepared this <br /> quarterly report summarizing field activities performed during the first quarter of 2002 at 423 North <br /> Madison Street, Stockton, California The scope of work performed on the site for the quarter <br /> included monitoring concentrations of dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons in ground water on the site <br /> and preparation of this report The site setting is illustrated in Figure 1 Structures and monitoring <br /> well locations are illustrated in Figure 2 <br /> LSite background information was summarized in Revised Corrective Action Plan-February 1997, <br /> Site Investigation Report- USTNo 8,dated 10 February 1998 and Quarterly Report-August 1998, <br /> ' prepared by AGE Data from previous ground water monitoring events is included in the tables of <br /> this report <br /> ' 2.0. BACKGROUND <br /> ' • Four underground storage tanks (USTs, Tanks No 3, 4, 5 and 6) were removed by Falcon Energy <br /> Associates (FEA)in 1986 from a common excavation north of the repair shop In November 1992, <br /> three additional USTs, Tanks No 1, 2 and 8, were removed by FEA from separate excavations <br /> ' located west, east and south of the repair shop, respectively All three tanks were reported to be in <br /> poor condition and hydrocarbon-impacted soil was encountered in each excavation Due to the <br /> presence of hydrocarbons and the shallow depth to ground water, further assessment investigation <br /> ' was required by the San Joaquin County Public Health Services-Environmental Health Department <br /> (EHD) The former UST locations are illustrated on Figure 2 <br /> ' From 1990 to 1994,five ground water monitoring wells(MW-1,MW-2,MW-4,MW-5 and MW-8) <br /> and two soil borings (SB-1 and SB-2) were installed near the former location of USTs Nos 3, 4, 5 <br /> and 6 Hydrocarbons were encountered in both soil and ground water samples collected near the <br /> former USTs location Details were presented in a March 1991 Progress Report and August 1994 <br /> Summary Report/Additional Site Investigation prepared by Resna Industries <br /> Between 16 June and 17 July 1995, seventeen soil bonngs (GP 1 through GP 17)were advanced at <br /> the site as part of site assessment activities Four probings (GPI to GP4) were advanced near the <br /> former location of UST No 8, a 1,000-gallon trichloroethane (TCA) solvent tank Petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons were not detected in soil samples collected from these probings However, strong <br /> solvent-like odor was noted during sample collection, extending to the bottom of probings GP 1 and <br /> ' GP2 <br /> • <br /> Advanced GeoEnviron mental,Inc <br />
