INTRODUCTION <br /> In accordance with a,request from Mi Jeffery Setness of Hartmann & Setness, Advanced <br /> ' GeoEnvironmental, Inc (AGE) has prepared thus Quarterly Report sumnanzmg field activities <br /> performed during the second quarter of 1995 at 423 North Madison Street in Stockton, California <br /> ' (Figure 1) <br /> ' 2.0. BACKGROUND <br /> 21 SITE DESCRIPTION <br /> iThe site occupies the city block bounded by Fremont Street, North Madison Street, Lindsay Street <br /> and Monroe Street except the northwest corner The site was the location of the Chase Chevrolet <br /> service center until 1994 Two large buildings and a parking cover are located at the site (Figure 2) <br /> Four underground storage tanks (USTs, Tank Nos 3, 4, 5 & 6) were removed by Falcon Energy <br /> Associates (FEA) in 1986 from a common excavation north of the repair shop (Figure 2) Three <br /> additional USTs (Tank Nos 1, 2 & 8)were removed by FEA in 1992 from separate excavations to <br /> the west, cast and south of the repair shop, respectively (Figure 2) <br /> ' Laboratory results of samples collected during the UST i emovals were not available However, all <br /> 7 USTs were reported as being in poor condition The San Joaquin County Public Health Services - <br /> Environmental Health Division(PHS/EHD) required a soil and ground water investigation to assess <br /> the extent of contamination at the site <br /> ' 2 2 FURTHER INVESTIGATION <br /> No further investigation has been conducted in the vicinity of tank Nos 1, 2 or 8 Five ground water <br /> monitoring wells and two soil borings were installed by Resna between September 1990 and June <br /> 1994 to investigate the extent of impacted soil and ground water in the vicinity of tanks 3,4,5 & 6 <br /> Ground water at the site historically ranges from 25 to 30 feet below grade with a northerly flow <br /> direction Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2 and MW-4 <br /> ' during each sampling event Hydrocarbons were detected in MW-5 during one sampling event <br /> Petroleum hydrocarbons have not been detected in MW-8 <br /> f <br /> { <br /> f <br /> 1 <br />
