PROCEDURES
' 3 1 PROBING AND SAMPLING
' The following procedures will be performed for the installation of probe borings
I Notify the PHS-EHD at least 48 hours prior to commencement of any work
' 2 Advance three soil probe borings at the site to depths of approximately 40 feet below surface
grade (bsg) using a van-mounted Geoprobe probing unit equipped with 125-inch diameter
' rods If hydrocarbon-impacted soil is encountered, as evidenced by field observations,
probings will be advanced below the impacted soil interval, if practicable, to define the
vertical extent of the impacted soil The proposed probe boring locations are, depicted on
Figure 2
3 Decontaminate sampling equipment in an Alconox solution and double-rinse with clean tap
' water prior to each sampling run
4 Obtain soil samples at 5-foot depth intervals during probing advancement Sampling will
' begin at a depth of 15 feet bsg in the probing near GP-I and at 10 feet bsg in the remaining
two probings Samples will be collected using a Geoprobe soil sampling assembly pre-loaded
with four I 125-inch by 6-inch brass sleeves
' 5 Preserve soil samples in the second brass sleeve by covering both ends with Teflon sheets,
capping, and sealing with tape
6 Label samples with date, location, boring number and depth, time of sampling, and sampler's
initials
' 7 Log samples on a chain-of-custody form and store samples in a chilled container pending
transport to a state-certified laboratory
i8 Monitor soil sample duplicates for the presence of organic vapor using an organic vapor
1
Advanced GeoEn%ironmcntal,Inc
1
