Working To Restore Nature <br /> According to the San Joaquin County Flood Control and Water Conservation District, Fall 1992, <br /> regional groundwater flow in the site vicinity is to the east-northeast (Fall 1992 Groundwater <br /> ' Report). <br /> ' The nearest surface water body to the site is the Stockton Deep Water Channel which trends east <br /> to west and is connected to the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta The east end of the channel <br /> ' terminates,fust southeast of the site at Center Street The site is located approximately 2.5 miles <br /> south of the Calaveras River and 3 0 miles north of Walker Slough, a tributary of the San <br /> ' Joaquin River <br /> ' Groundwater flow at the Madison Street parcel, which has been consistent over the history of <br /> the investigation, is northerly at a magnitude of 0 003 to 0 01 feet/foot Groundwater flow at <br /> the Van Buren Street parcel, which has also been consistent over the history of the investigation, <br /> is north to northeast at a magnitude of 0 0014 to 0 02 feet/foot Depth to shallow groundwater <br /> has ranged from 25-30 feet below surface grade during the groundwater investigative history of <br /> ' the site. <br /> Previous investigations indicated a general soil lithology of interbedded clay, silt and sand to a <br /> depth of approximately 35 feet with clay from approximately 35 feet to 46 feet below grade, the <br /> ' total depth explored. <br /> SITE HISTORY <br /> ' Soil and Groundwater Investigations - 1986 Tank Removal <br /> On May 14, 1986 hydrocarbon contamination of soils was noted during the removal of five <br /> ' underground tanks from two locations at the project saes (Figure 2) Tanks 1, 2, 3 and 4, <br /> which had contained oil, transmission oil and gasoline were located on the Madison Street <br /> Property (Tank Pit A, Figure 2), Tank 5, which had contained gasoline was located on the Van <br />�1 15W'fflX MRTs\SR-0W FNL 2 <br /> 1 <br />
