I
r Working To Restore Nature
On January 3 and 4, 1991 four additional soil bonngs were completed as monitoring wells to
further identify and define the extent of petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations in groundwater
All four monitoring wells (MW4, MWS, MW6 and MW7) were completed at a depth of 45 feet
below grade. Two of the wells were drilled near each of the former tank pits The well
' locations are plotted on Figure 2 The wells were constructed of two inch diameter F480 PVC
screen/casing
1
Soil samples collected during drilling at depths of approximately 20 feet were analyzed for
BTEX and TPHg. One soil sample was also collected from below groundwater from MW7 (a
depth of 45 feet) and submitted for BTEX and TPHg analysis
i
Petroleum hydrocarbon analytes were not detected in the soil samples collected from wells
installed at the Madison Street property Low to moderate levels of petroleum hydrocarbon
analytes were detected in samples collected from the wells installed on the Van Buren Street
property. Soil analytical data is presented in Table 1A
' 1 On January 10 and 11, 1991, subsequent to well development and purging, groundwater samples
were collected from wells MW4, MWS, MW6 and MW7 Petroleum hydrocarbon analytes were
i
present in samples collected from all the wells Groundwater analytical data is presented in
Table 2
1
The lateral limits of soil impact resulting from the 1986 tank removals at the Madison Street site
were essentially defined during these investigations The lateral limits of soil contamination
were not defined during these phases of investigation at the Van Buren Street site
1992 Tank Removal
i
On November 7, 1992 three additional tanks (one 500 gallon waste oil "TPW", one 1000 gallon
waste oil "TPE" and one 4000 gallon solvent "TPS") were removed from the Auto Investments
i
1500701RSP0RTMSR-06%FNL 4
' 1
