INTRODUCTION
In accoidance with a request from Mr Jeffery Setness of Hartmann & Setness, Advanced
GeoEnvironmental, Inc (AGE) has prepared this Quarterly Report summarizing field activities
performed during the second and third quarters of 1996 at 423 North Madison Street, Stockton,
California The scope of work was to monitor concentrations of dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons
at the site The location of the site is illustrated in Figure 1 - Location Map A plan of the site is
illustrated in Figure'2 - Site Plan
' 4
Field activities were performed in accordance with guidelines for the investigation of undergiound
storage tank (UST) sites established by the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board
(CVRWQCB)and the San Joaquin County Public Health Services- Environmental Health Division
(PHS-EHD) Background information was summarized in the February 1996 Corrective Action Plan
and previous reports prepared by other consultants
 20 PROCEDURES
21 MONITORING WELL PURGE PROCEDURES
On 07'May and 07 August 1996, a Solinst water level meter was used to measure the depth to
ground water in each well relative to the tops of the well casings The relative ground water
elevations and hydraulic gradients were determined from these data (Table 1)
Following measurement of ground water depths, each monitoring well was purged using a 2-stage
spurge pump Approximately seven to twelve gallons of water(a minimum of three well volumes),
were removed from all wells except MW-S, from which forty to forty-five gallons of water were
removed Stabilization parameters (temperature, pH and"conductivity) were measured at regular
' intervals using an ICM model 52200 water analyzer The purge pump was decontaminated prior to
purging each well by pumping an Alconox solution followed by pumping tap water All purged
water was stored in 55-gallon DOT drums on-site Stabilization data and field logs are included in ,
' Appendix B -
' 22 COLLECTION OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
For both sampling events (07 May and 07 August 1996), water samples were collected from each
i
