The location
of the proposed groundwater monitoring wells appear to be well placed
based on the results of the hydropunch data. Based on the results of the
proposed wells, additional wells may need to be installed in the future.
The installation of the proposed vapor extraction test wells is warranted
at this time. As noted in the workplan, the final and specific location and
construction of these wells must be based on the lithological conditions
observed during the field work. Based on the use of vapor extraction
technology at a nearby site with similar conditions, several limited screen
length intervals, possibly in a nested borehole, may be appropriate for
this site also and should be considered. A vapor extraction test should
be scheduled and completed within two weeks after this phase of field
work.
Therefore, based on the above discussion, please proceed with the
work as proposed in the workplan addendum. This work should be
completed and a Corrective Action Plan submitted to this office by
February 5, 1996.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
