On September 30, 1994, I will be onsite to perform
a short test to assess the effectiveness of bailing for FP removal. If effective, I propose to
perform the removal quarterly with the monitor well sampling. If apparently ineffective, I
will arrange to employ your second option (installation of a passive skimmer). If a skimmer
is installed, the unit will be checked monthly for the first quarter to assess the removal rate.
Depending on the rate of removal, a quarterly Operation and Maintenance schedule may be
warranted.
Pending review of the 13 March 1994 workplan (approved August 23, 1994), a sampling
event was performed on 22 July 1994. MW-1 did not recover sufficiently (<0.1 feet per
hour) to allow representative sampling, MW-2 was still impacted by TPH (as gasoline) and
BTEX, MW-3 had a measured free-product thickness of 0.03 feet. Based on timing of your
subsequent approval of the workplan, I have postponed preparation of a sampling report. It
is my intention to supply the details in a sampling report to be submitted with the boring/well
permit application.
I appreciate your assistance with this project.
