Y y
Alternative 2: Passive Skimmine
If bailing is assessed to be ineffective, an absorption skimmer will be installed in MW-3 to
attempt to remove FP. Assuming standard shipping rates, the skimmer should be installed on
or before 1 November 1994. The skimmer will be checked monthly for the first quarter to
assess the removal rate and emptied (if more than 1/2 full). If it appears that the skimmer's
bladder capacity will not be exceeding during a full quarter, subsequent removal monitoring will
be scheduled to coincide with quarterly assessment activities. A DOT approved container will
be labeled and stored onsite for the collection of FP. The fluid will be transported in the DOT
container to Ramos Environmental in West Sacramento for recycling. Proper manifesting will
be maintained for proper removal/disposal documentation. The FP generated from subsequent
events will be manifested and recycled in a similar manner.
LIMITATIONS
The collection of subsurface information is an inexact science. The preferred methods used to
collect subsurface data should be expected to vary between different consultants. Furthermore,
the methods used by the same consultant should be expected to change based on site conditions
and technological advances.
