3.0 SITE CHARACTERIZATION INVESTIGATION <br /> To achieve the current site characterization investigation objectives, the following scope of work was <br /> conducted <br /> 1 Permitting and Mobilization <br /> 2 Preparation of Workplan and Health and Safety Plan <br /> 3 Field Investigation <br /> 4 Laboratory Analysis <br /> 5 Investigation Derived Waste Disposal <br /> 6 Investigative Report Preparation <br /> 31 Permitting and Mobilization <br /> A drilling permit for soil borings and groundwater monitoring wells was procured from the PHSEHD <br /> (Appendix I) Underground Service Alert was notified of the subsurface investigation at least 48 hours prior <br /> to initiation of the investigation Appendix I contains copies of the PHSEHD drilling permits,City of Lodi <br /> permits, and related PHSEHD correspondence <br /> 3.2 Preparation of Workplan and Health and Safety.Plan � <br /> A workplan was prepared that included the project objectives, scope of work, soil and groundwater boring <br /> and sampling procedures,analytical methods,and schedule The work plan was submitted to PHSEHD on <br /> April 11,2003 A site specific Health and Safety Plan was prepared in accordance with 29 Code of Federal <br /> Regulations 1910 120 The Health and Safety Plan procedures for work to be performed at the site,chemical <br /> hazard information, site safety officers, and a preferred medical emergency location <br /> 3.3 Field Investigation <br /> The field drilling portion of the investigation was conducted during August and September, 2003 The <br /> workplan had been approved for the drilling and sampling of 3 soil borings and the drilling, sampling, and <br /> completion of 7 monitoring wells However, conditions encountered required the expansion of the soil <br /> boring phase of the investigation as directed by PHSEHD staff to a total of 8 exploratory soil borings, and <br /> three additional groundwater monitoring wells Details of the investigation are provided in the following <br /> sections <br /> 01 Mmn1D\Envwonmenta[Tamw'fexaw\Repods`SAR1203 wpd Page 12 <br />
