This sample was reportedly submitted to an analytical laboratory for analysis and was reported to contain
1,300 mg/kg of TPH A second soil sample was reportedly collected from 27 feet bgs that was analyzed and
reportedly was below analytical method detection limits (Applied GeoSystems, 1988) No laboratory
analytical report or map of sample location is available from existing records
The excavation was reportedly backfilled with clean soil to grade
Previous Site Assessment Inveshgations(1988-1991)
Based on the soil sampling and laboratory analytical results during the UST removal, PHSEHD issued an
Unauthorized Release Report (UAR) and directed the property owner at that time, Mr Carl Year ng, to
conduct a Site Assessment investigation to determine the vertical and horizontal extent of gasoline and other
volatile organic compounds released into the soil and groundwater beneath the site Litigation apparently
occurred from 1988 to 1991 over the responsibility of who should conduct and pay for the investigation and
remediation costs
In August, 1988, RAMCON Inc (the last tank owner)retained Applied GeoSystems,Inc to investigate soil
and groundwater contamination at the site Applied GeoSystems drilled four borings(SB-1 to SB-4,Figure
4)during August, 1988 After completion of the soil boring,Applied GeoSystems converted SB-4 into a
2-inch diameter, shallow-groundwater monitoring well(PT-MW-1) Soil samples were collected at five
foot intervals from each of the soil borings and field screened for volatile organic compounds using a
photolonization detector(PID)
Minor elevated PID readings were recorded by Applied GeoSystems on the log of soil boring for SB-3
throughout most of the boring The highest PID reading from SB-3 was reportedly recorded at a depth of
20 feet bgs Although the upper portion of the soil boring(0 to approximately 25 feet bgs)of SB-4 recorded
background level PID readings, the highest recorded PID reading was recorded in boring SB-4 and at
approximately the groundwater surface(40 feet bgs) None of the soil samples were reportedly submitted
for quantitative analysis by a state certified laboratory Soil boring SB-4 was advanced to approximately
60 feet bgs and completed as PT-MW-1
n—\D 1EnvironmenW\Parnwrexwo\Rgmm\sAR1203 wo Page 6
