%"e N0001
Roberts Petroleum Services Facility July 11, 1990
Project No. 1628G Page 4
Discussion
Monitoring well MW-8 was installed to determine if free-phase petroleum hydrocarbons persisted
in the area adjacent to well MW-1 and the transfer block: none were detected. In May, an
additional set of groundwater samples was collected from the on-site wells as part of the continuing
investigation to determine the extent of groundwater contamination. Dissolved hydrocarbons were
detected only in well MW-8 and not in the remaining wells. This was the fourth sampling during
the past year in which the perimeter wells remained nondetectable for petroleum hydrocarbons.
From the data, it appears that hydrocarbon contamination of the groundwater is limited to the area
of the transfer block.
Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in seven of the soil samples submitted for analysis.
Contaminants were detected throughout the entire profile, except at the 6- and 21-foot depths. At
the 16-foot depth, concentrations were minor.
Reporting Requirements
A copy of this report should be forwarded by Woolsey Oil Company to the following agencies in a
timely manner:
San Joaquin Local Health District California Regional Water Quality Control Board
Environmental Health Department Central Valley Region
1601 East Hazelton Avenue 3443 Routier Road
Stockton, California 95201 Sacramento, California 95827-3098
Attention: Mr. Harlen Knoll Attention: Mr. Tom Peltier
Limitations
The discussion and recommendations presented in this report are based on the following.
1.
