(GZA) on behalf of Valley Pacific
Petroleum Services, Inc. (Valley Pacific) for the site at 930 Victor Road in Lodi (Site).
The 29 December 2010 Corrective Action Plan (CAP) proposed to perform site
remediation using soil vapor extraction (SVE), and then to evaluate supplementing the
system with air sparging (AS) if SVE influent levels become asymptotic. Our 20 January
2011 letter commented that Valley Pacific's 11 October 2010 Soil Vapor Extraction Pilot
Test Report (Pilot Test Report) selected AS/SVE to remediate the CDCs in the
groundwater and vadose zone based on the rationale that AS/SVE would likely enhance
the biodegradation potential at the Site by increasing the dissolved oxygen levels in
groundwater. Therefore, we required Valley Pacific to adhere to the findings of the Pilot
Test Report that includes incorporation of AS into the SVE system before SVE treatment
is discontinued.
The CAP clarification elucidates that AS will be incorporated into the remedy before SVE
is discontinued. As such, we concur with Valley Pacific's selection of AS/SVE as the site
remedy and the CAP Clarification.
If you have any questions regarding this letter, you may contact me at (916) 464-4811 or
betaylor@waterboards.ca.gov.
=- -
BRIAN TAYL'O'R, P.G.
Engineering Geologist
cc: Mr. Harlin Knoll, San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, Stockton
Mr. Gregory Stahl, Ground Zero Analysis, Inc., Escalon
Mr. Patrick Riddle, Law Offices of Patrick D.
