(GZA). The Report provides the groundwater analytical results of the
January 2002 and April 2002 quarterly groundwater monitoring events.
The Report states that all groundwater samples were analyzed in accordance with the Regional Water
Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region (Regional Board) Monitoring and Reporting Program
(MRP) 5-01-841, for total petroleum hydrocarbons, as diesel (TPH-d) and gasoline (TPH-g); benzene-
tolune-ethylbenzene-xylenes (BTEX); volatile organic compounds (VOCs); and fuel oxygenates,
including methyl tert-butyl ether (MtBE). Maximum groundwater concentrations for January and April
respectively, were: TPH-d (360 and <50 µg/L), TPH-g (1,800 and 3,400 µg/L), benzene (290 and 510
µg/L), and MtBE (4.4 and 1,300 µg/L). Groundwater from monitoring well MW -7, which recorded the
highest MtBE concentration in April 2002, was not sampled in January 2002. Groundwater from
downgradient MW -3, which reported 4.4 µg/L for MtBE in January 2002, increased to 100 µg/L in April
2002. There are no monitoring wells downgradient of MW -3.
Free product (separate phase product, or SPP) is removed periodically from MW -8, which is
downgradient from MW -7.
The Report evaluated seasonal water levels with contaminant concentrations, and correlates seasonal
rising groundwater levels with lower contaminant concentrations.
The Report recommends sampling MW -113 (deeper aquifer well) semi-annually, removing VOCs from
the sampling program, and reducing the TPH-d sampling to only MW -6.
California Environmental Protection Agency
R!
