As a condition for
the approval of the Site Investigation Work Plan (the work plan) dated June 5,2002
prepared by Cambria Environmental Technology, Inc., (Cambria), EHDrequired the
installation of an additional monitoring well screened within the sand layer between 90 feet
and 100 feet below surface grade (bsg) to confirm and monitor the presence of methyl tert
butyl ether (MTBE)in this interval. This monitoring well has not been installed to date.
In a telephone conversation on October 25,2002, San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department (EHD) agreed to Cambria's request to delay the installation of the deep
monitoring well. Cambria is currently seeking permissions from neighboring property
owners before installing the three shallow off-site monitoring wells, MW-8, 9, and 10. EHD
requests the additional deep monitoring well be installed at the time when these three wells
are installed. EHD also requests these wells be installed no later than January 1, 2003.
Cambria agreed to submit an investigation report of the installation of MW-4, 5, 6, and 7 in
September 2002,including the results of the groundwater extraction test conducted in
October 2002 before installing the remaining proposed wells MW-8, 9, and 10. Please
submit the report by December 15,2002.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Jeffrey Wong at (209)468-0335. — -
Donna Heran,REHS,Director
Environmental Health Department
Jeffrey Wong,Senior REHS Nuel C.
