(Cambria). Analytical results of the groundwater samples
from Monitoring Well#1 (MW-1) were 16,000 micrograms per liter (µg/1) of methyl tertiary
butyl ether(MTBE),results from MW-2 were 580 µg/l of MTBE,and results from MW-3
were 6,800 µg/I of MTBE. All three samples indicated a drop in MTBE concentrations
compared to the previous quarter. Groundwater gradient flow direction was reported to the
west.
Since the installation of the monitoring wells on site in November 1999,groundwater
gradient flow direction has been reported as shown on the table below:
Table 1 Historical oundwater flow directions
11/99 02/00 04/00 08/00 11/00 01/01 05/01 1 08/01 11/01
Direction I SW NE INE 1W I NE I SE I E ISE JW
Gradient 10.002 0.002 10.003 10.0004 10.0003 1 0.0008 10.0012 10.004 10.003
SW= southwest NE= northeast W=west NE= northeast
SE= southeast E= east
Due to the large degree of fluctuation in groundwater flow direction, EHD recommends re-
examining previous data and recalculating the groundwater flow directions. A radial diagram
showing different groundwater flow directions was provided in the report,but the flow
directions were not accompanied by the corresponding date of monitoring. EHD requests a
rose-diagram depicting the historical groundwater flow directions and their corresponding
date of measurement be submitted in all future quarterly monitoring reports.
EHD has not received a report of findings of the cone penetrometer testing (CPT) borings
installed in October 2001 to date. Submit the report of the CPT work to EHD by April 19,
2002.
