The proposed <br /> work is based on the results of soil sampling performed during underground storage tank (UST) <br /> removal activities during a station upgrade in December 1994. All proposed field work will be <br /> performed according to the Fugro standard operating procedures (SOPs) included as Attachment <br /> 1, which have been prepared to conform to the California LUFT Manual and "Tri-Regional Board <br /> Staff Recommendations." <br /> PURPOSE <br /> This workplan was prepared: (1) in response to the San Joaquin County Public Health <br /> Services, Environmental Health Division (SJCPHS/EHD) letter to Shell dated August 14, 1995, <br /> requiring further investigation in the vicinity of the UST basin; (2) to comply with the <br /> requirements of the Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund Program (SB 2004); and (3) to <br /> assess the nature and extent of petroleum hydrocarbons in soil in the vicinity of the former UST <br /> excavation. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The following subsections describe the site and its history. <br /> Site Description <br /> The site is an operating service station located on the southeast corner of the intersection <br /> of Victor and Beckman Roads in Lodi, California.
