(Fugro), on behalf of Shell Oil Products Company (Shell), is providing
this letter supplementing the workplan dated September 13, 1995, for the subject site (Figures 1
and 2). The purpose of this letter is to address the recommendations outlined by San Joaquin
County Public Health Services/Environmental Health Division (SJCPHS/EHD), in a letter to Shell
dated November 14, 1995.
Our modifications to the workplan, as requested in the November 14, 1995, SJCPHS/EHD
letter, are as follows:
1) A GeoProbe soil boring will not be advanced in the area of sample ES-2SSW/17
south of the underground storage tank (UST) basin.
2) To address the area beneath sample TPI/21, Fugro will advance an angle boring
southeast of the UST basin (Figure 2).
3) To assure the GeoProbe borings define the vertical extent of contamination, Fugro
will terminate the vertical borings when field screening indicates soils free of
contamination have been encountered.
4) The shallowest samples which appear to be free of contamination based on field
screening will be submitted for chemical analysis.
5) If field observations indicate the lateral extent of contamination is not defined with
the initial soil borings, Fugro will advance a maximum of three additional soil
borings. The locations of the additional borings will be determined in the field.
95470571.BWP
A member of the Fugro group of companies with offices throughout the world
