Shell Oil Company Ban <br /> April 19, 1995 (9447-8617) _ <br /> ' 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> I This report documents the results of soil excavation, sampling, and analysis associated <br /> with the removal of four underground gasoline storage tanks (USTs) on December 2, 1994 at the <br /> Shell Oil Products Company (Shell) service station (WIC 9204-4416-0806) located at 880 Victor <br />' Road, Lodi, California (Figure 1) The removal of these four USTs is part of renovations being <br /> conducted at the service station This report is based, in part, on information supplied to Fugro <br /> West, Inc (Fugro) by Shell and is subject to modification as newly acquired information may <br />' warrant <br /> 11 Purpose <br /> The purpose of the investigation was to <br /> • characterize the site's subsurface exposed during the removal of the USTs and <br /> associated piping, <br />' perform regulatory-required UST closure soil sampling, along with additional <br /> excavation and sampling, if warranted, and, <br /> • characterize excavated soil temporarily stockpiled on-site, and dispose of <br /> accordingly <br />' 1.2 Scope <br /> The completed scope of work, summarized below, was performed according to Fugro's <br />' standard operating procedures (SOPs) included in Appendix A <br />' On December 2, 1994, Fugro personnel witnessed the excavation and removal of <br /> four single-walled steel gasoline USTs (two 10,000-gallon and two 6,000-gallon) <br /> and associated pump islands and product piping The tanks appeared to be in <br />' good condition, with no obvious holes <br /> • Between December 2 and 6, 1994, an additional 150 cubic yards of soil were <br />' excavated from the bottom of the excavation for the two new 15,000-gallon <br /> double-walled fiberglass tanks <br />' - On December 6, 1994, Fugro personnel collected soil samples from beneath the <br /> former USTs, piping and dispensers The samples were collected under the <br /> direction of Eric Travena of the San Joaquin County Department of Environmental <br />' Health (SJCDEH) <br /> • Based on initial sampling results, on December 8, 1994, the UST excavation was <br /> deepened and additional soil samples were collected <br />' 94478617 BRP _ - _- -- __-� � 1 -- <br />
