CAMBRIA
at a concentration of 6,410 ppb, however the sample was analyzed outside of EPA
recommended hold time A chemical concentration map is presented on Figure 2
Quarterly Sampling
Groundwater samples were analyzed for total purgeable hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) by
EPA Method 8015 (Modified) and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX), and
methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) by EPA Method 8020 Groundwater from well MW-3
was also analyzed for MTBE by EPA Method 8260A
Chemical analytical data are presented in a summary table in Blaine's groundwater
monitoring report (Appendix A)
Conclusions and Recommendations
Petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations in the wells this quarter are generally consistent with
previous quarter's data This quarter's EPA Method 8260 MTBE data (from well MW-3)
• compares well with the EPA Method 8260 MTBE data from the fourth quarter 1999
Groundwater flow direction this quarter is in the same direction it was during the first quarter
2000 However, groundwater flow direction during the fourth quarter 1999 was in the
opposite direction The groundwater gradient has been very flat at this site which can cause
fluctuations in flow direction Continued quarterly monitoring and sampling is recommended
to determine the predominant groundwater flow direction beneath this site
Closing
Cambria prepared a Site Investigation Work Plan for this site and issued it to SJCPHS on July
3, 2000 We are prepared to implement this work plan once we receive wi itten approval
from SJCPHS
0955 2
